Isle Of Man Flag Sew On Badge Hanmade Manx Triskelion Flag Patch
Can you trace your heritage back the the Isle of Man? Do you love the oddity of the flag's triskelion? This Isle of Man flag sew on patch is a great way to show off your individuality and Celtic heritage.
Why does the flag have three legs? It is a literal triskelion, Greek for three legged, and is one of the oldest symbols known to mankind. The design had different meanings to the Celts depinding on which way the legs were facing. It could mean either victory/ unity, or hostility. For the Isle of Man, the story goes that the legs are rotating counterclockwise so they never have to kneel to the British. This fits in nicely with the Island's motto "'Quocunque jeceris stabit." To translate from the Latin, "wherever you throw, it will stand."
The flag is a red field with three armored lets rotating in a counterclockwise direction. This patch is made with a base of red polyester fabric cut into a rectangle with rounded corners. Centered you will find the armored triskelion embroidered in white with yellow accents (including the spurs) and outlined in black. The badge is edged with a satin stitch boarder also in black. This gives the patch a wonderful finished look and keeps the fabric from raveling. On the back is stabilizer, this helps hold the stitches in place and contributes to the durability of the patch.
Our SEW-ON patches are great for personalizing any item. These can include (but are in no way limited to) your jeans, jacket, backpack, messenger bag, sweatshirt, or hat. Or you may just want to add to your patch collection.
