Celtic Owl Engineer Messenger Bag Embroidered Knotwork Bird
Are you in need of a bag that can help keep you organized? Is your animal totem the owl? Perhaps you just love Celtic art? This engineer bag may be what youre looking for. It is a vertical style messenger bag with lot of pockets. Embroidered on the center of the front pocket is a Celtic Owl.
The Celtic Owl motif really makes this bag stand out. The owl is a stylized Celtic barn owl. The body of the owl is done in three shades of taupe. While the knotwork creating the inner detail of the owl is done in two sage greens, one light and one just a bit darker. The Owls eyes and feet are done in charcoal gray. Two browns were used to create the stump the owl is standing on.
Why embroidery? We choose to embroider rather than screen print or use heat transfers because it will last longer. Unlike the other two methods, the threads used in embroidery actually become part of the bag rather than just sit atop it.
The bag itself is made out of heavy duty cotton canvas. The color is a deep olive drab green and allows the owl to stand out wonderfully. There are two ways to carry this bag. On top of the bag there is a grab and go handle as well as a detachable, adjustable shoulder strap. The strap lengthens enough to allow for it to be worn across the body as well as just over the shoulder. Included with this strap is a pad to help keep the strap from digging into the shoulder if you are carrying a heavy load. To keep the bag closed is a turn style clasp.
As for pockets, this bag has many. The front flap is one, and there is a pocket on either side of the bag. When you open the front flap, there are three more small pockets. One that runs across the bottom, it is big enough to hold a Kindle. Two smaller pockets sit side by side above. One has a flap that is held closed by velcro, the other has pen holders across its front. If you look under the front flap you will see a document pocket made of clear vinyl. This pocket is great for maps, magazines or drawings.
The main compartment is split in two. There is a flush pocket along the stiffened back that is great for holding a tablet or netbook (we still recommend using a protective sleeve). Then there is the larger second section of the main compartment. Here is where you can carry around a few notebooks, water bottle and lunch or whatever else you may want to bring along.
Is that the end of the pockets? No, no it is not. When you turn the bag around to the back you see what appears to be one more pocket. This one also has a flap held closed with heavy duty velcro. If you open it up, you may notice a zipper. This runs around two sides of the pocket. When you unzip this, you can open the pocket up to reveal a wall of small pockets! Here you can hold any number of small items; keys, cell phone, batteries, small tools, the possibilities are endless. Along the side that swung open there is one more flush pocket. This again would be good for any more paperwork you may need to keep with you.
This bag really is made for those that love to keep a lot of things with them, but want to be able to find their items when theyre needed. Its great for art students, people that travel a lot, or as the style name suggests, engineers! With all those pockets, you may have a hard time filling them all.
